Oratorical Contest

The Centerville Noon Optimist Club supports Optimist International with the annual Margaret Barclay Memorial Oratorical Contest.  This contest provides an opportunity for students to develop important public speaking skills.  Students under the age of 18 as of October 1st are eligible to participate.  Contestants deliver a four to five minute speech at regular club meetings in January or February.  One winner from each contest advances to the zone competition, and then can advance to the finals at the district level.  Winners at the state level receive a $1,500 scholarship.
