The Optimist Visual Arts Competition gives the youth we serve another outlet for their creativity! This exciting program is designed to encourage and celebrate youth visual art skills in painting and drawing. The contest will be held at the Centerville Noon Optimist local level and at the International level.
The theme for 2024 is: “Hope.” Students may submit either a painting or a drawing. There will be two age divisions for judging.
The project for the Visual Arts Competition at the International level shall be the creation of a 2025 Optimist Calendar. Art for six months of the calendar will be selected from each age division. The art for the cover will be selected from both age divisions. There will be a monetary award for 13 Optimist International winners, one for the image selected to go on the cover and one image selected for each month in the year. The calendars will be available for sale as early as September 1, 2024.
Prizes Awarded in Each Age Group
- 1st place will receive $125.00 and teacher will receive $125 for the classroom.
- 2nd place will receive $60.00 and teacher will receive $60 for the classroom.
- 3rd place will receive $25.00 and teacher will receive $25 for the classroom.
- All other students will receive a participation certificate.
- At the International level, 12 winners will receive $150; the winner of the cover will receive an additional $100.
Rules
- Entrants must live or attend school in Centerville or Washington Township.
- Entrants must be age 11 or lower as of October 1, 2023.
- There are two age divisions: up to 7 years of age and 8-11 years of age.
- Student can submit only 1 work.
- Artwork must be created on 11″ wide x 8.5″ high paper or construction paper.
- Images of art must be digital, high resolution and uploaded using the form above.
- Physical artwork of the Club winner for each age group must be submitted to participate in the International competition.
- Images of art must be submitted by April 15, 2024!
