Phather Phil’s Prayer
Heavenly Father, as we grow older we reflect on how good the times were when we were younger. Gone are the days when women cooked like their Mothers, now they drink like their fathers! You know the ones. They cook with wine and sometimes even put it in the food! Yet, these will be the days they will look back on and say those were the days. We don’t adapt to change very well. We like to continue to do the same thing and expect
different results. We all need to upgrade not just change. It is a comfort to know You, Lord, are the same yesterday ,today and always. Led us in an upgrade to come grow closer to You and become the person you created us to be. Amen!

Today’s Speaker
There was no speaker scheduled, but not due to Dave’s lack of effort, because he has produced some really, really great guest speakers.
Fortunately, Greg Fay accepted yesterday to present today on membership. Thankfully he remembered his glasses to read his notes, so he didn’t have to wear his wife’s pink specs. He referred to a term Ron has spoken of: “engine” and that it is what drives the club – it’s everything about the engine that keeps us going. The club’s success is dependent on its members so it is important to speak to friends and co-workers about why Optimist is so great. It’s not a hard sale, because Greg believes Optimist promotes itself.
He reminded us how wonderful the Tree Lot, Avenue of Flags, and the Golf Outing is because it produces so much income so we can continue to give back to the community by doing the haunted trail, the oratorical contest, scholarships, bike rodeo, TriStar basketball, TriStar soccer and many other events.
To those who haven’t been to a meeting in a while, please know we miss you and we would like to see you at a lunch very soon!
