CNO 2.0 Venue and Details
The venue for tonight’s CNO 2.0 meeting was Zinks Meats and Fine Wines at 409 Miamisburg-Centerville Rd, Centerville, Ohio. They served us great food and beverages were available for purchase.
Brent Richburg thanked everyone for coming out tonight and he thanked Zinks and its team for having us.
Tonight’s meeting was a club night where we learn about what is coming up for members and the community.
Brent remembers when he moved to the Centerville area from another state. He knew he wanted to find a group to be part of that performed public service. In the military, this was a big part of his life. After visiting CNO meetings, he knew CNO was the group to join. He likes how CNO respects your time. If you sign up for an activity and they say they need your time for two hours, they mean you only need to help for two hours.
Next we heard announcements about upcoming events.
Tri-Star Basketball
Craig Dring, the co-chair for Tri-Star basketball, said that the next Tri-Star Basketball event will be on March 9, 2024, at Watts Middle School. Sign up to volunteer for the event using the Member Calendar. There are two shifts to choose from, 8-10:15 and 10-12:15. They need about 35 volunteers for this event.
Craig said it is an interactive event that the kids love. It is also an opportunity to get to know fellow CNO members.
Kids aged 7-12 will compete in pass, shoot, and dribble contests.
You don’t need any basketball skills. Volunteers are needed to help with setup, registration, running the contests, scoring the participants, and handing out trophies.
The kids have lots of fun. It might be the first time they have gotten a trophy and they think it is great.
Community Egg Hunt
Ashley Simeone is co-chair of the Egg Hunt event with her sister Emily Duke. Ashley explained that the annual Egg Hunt will be held on March 30, 2024, at Oak Grove Park. There will be 8000 eggs distributed into multiple age group lanes and about 250 kids will pick them all up in about 5 minutes. Volunteers are needed the day of the event from 8:30 to 10:30 AM.
Each age group has 15 golden eggs instead of candy. Each special egg can be redeemed for a deluxe gift.
Stuffing the eggs with candy will be a week earlier on March 23, from 9 AM to 11 AM at St Leonard Franciscan Center. Come and help stuff the eggs and enjoy coffee and donuts.
Adult Egg Hunt Social
Beth Duncan said an adult nighttime Easter Egg Hunt will be held March 8, 2024, at 6:30 PM at Yankee Park. After the hunt there will be a party at Bock’s Family Brewery until around 9 PM. The eggs will have raffle tickets and everyone will win something. Feel free to invite your family and friends to the event. Signup and pay $15 online using the Member Calendar. Bring a flashlight, a basket or bag, and a friend if you like.
New Member Induction
President Joan Cordonnier inducted new member Bridget Herzog. Her sponsor is Mike Bevis.
Socializing
The announcements and induction were done by 6:15 PM and almost everyone stayed for a while to enjoy the fellowship, food and beverages. The evening was a great time. There were still several people there until 8 PM when Zinks said it was closing time.
