The scholarship requires a guidance counselor’s recommendation with an emphasis on financial need and a desire to pursue a degree in the student’s chosen trade. In addition to financial assistance, each student will have two mentors. Since 1983 Habitat has built new homes for over 300 families. They build 6-8 homes per year. Additionally, they rehabilitate homes to be accessible and perform critical repairs.
Homes are built based on the size of the family. The minimum number of bedrooms is three and they have built up to five-bedroom homes. The homes are affordable because of all the volunteer labor used to build them.
