Noon Meeting News – April 25, 2017 – Dick Dutro WWII Veteran

Phather Phil’s Prayer

Heavenly Father I’m sure I’m not alone when I thought how nice it would be if we could talk like the people at Hallmark. Not all the time but especially when coming to you in prayer. There is some solace in knowing You can read our hearts and pretty words arranged just so are not necessary. We’re also a little scared too, as our hearts may not be where you want them to be. So help us Lord to center down in faith filled silence before we divulge our thoughts to You in thankful praise and the desires of our hearts.  – Amen!

And Now for Something REALLY Different…

Roland Rapp decide given his last name – he should prepare a “Rap” when Joe introduced him as a Officer Candidate – a little of it is here – mercifuly very little.  When Roland was finished Joe Madden proclaimed – “well that’s a Rapp folks….”

Today’s Speaker

Dick Dutro, Beth Lybrook’s uncle and a World War II veteran, was our Tuesday speaker. He shared with the group several photos, taken with a Brownie camera, of the concentration camp he was at in Dachau, Germany some 72 years ago. He was made a guard of the camp at it’s liberation and spent 5 days helping identify those held hostage. Dutro is a retired teacher and shares a lot of his time with kids in the school system in hopes to pass his story on to the next generation. He stressed to us the importance that all of us must know and never forget – “yes it  [The Holocaust] did happen…”
