Noon Meeting News – July 25, 2017 – Tanya Snarr – Junior Achievement

Phather Phil’s Prayer

Heavenly Father, life doesn’t get any easier just cause we are getting older.  With added Experience we think bad times would be avoided and have nothing but smooth sailing.  As any old timer will tell you, getting older is not for a sissy.  We have an array of excuses to explain our bad times.  What we need to do is grow closer to you, be thankful for what we have, and not complain when we get what we deserve.  We pray You will continue to watch over us and bless us and what we do.  Although it would be nice to have more days when we are the dog and not the hydrant.  Amen!

Today’s Speaker

Our speaker, Tanya Snarr from Junior Achievement, told us JA is nearly 100 years old. The 3 pillars JA stresses are work readiness, financial literacy, and entrepreneurship. Starting with 5 year-olds learning about “ourselves” such as spending money on a gift, at the middle school level they explore the global marketplace. High school students get educated about careers, thru job shadowing, resume writing and personal finances. JA pairs mentors with classroom teachers to achieve its goals. Lively questions followed the presentation.
