Avenue of Flags 2021 Season Kickoff Presentation

AOF is a community-based fundraiser. Flags are delivered on the 5 American Flag Holidays. The program delivers to residences and businesses in our community. Flags are displayed for 4-6 around these holidays. Thank you to all AOF Helpers. It really is true that many hands working together accomplishes amazing results. New routes are added every year and they always need more volunteers.

Happiness is a choice. It is your choice to choose to be happy and optimistic. It is easy to experience an “I am eating ice cream right now” happiness. Long-term happiness takes practice and training. Be self-aware and choose happiness. We need goals in our lives. When you are confident the path you are on includes the purpose of finding joy on the way, you will then find happiness.

Steve Mays – Bike Centerville

Bike Centerville was started in 2012. Other local chapters include Cycle Kettering, Bike Springfield, Bike Piqua, and Bike Yellow Springs. Their mission is to create a bicycle friendly community. Teach your child about the love of bicycles and they will never have money for drugs. Bike paths improve the value of homes and that younger generations like living in communities where they can get to things easily without a car.

N.O.W. – New Optimists Wanted – Event

New and perspective members learned about volunteer opportunities with our club through these events. Committee chairs presented what each committee does for the club. Note that all CNO community events are free for all participants and their families. The Americana 5K Run is a City of Centerville event that we help run and donate money to and there is a cost to the runners for this event.

Essay Contest Winners Read Their Essays

The Essay Contest is sponsored by Optimist International to give young people the opportunity to write about their own opinions regarding the world in which they live. The approach can encompass a young person’s personal experience, the experience of their country or a more historical perspective and helps in developing their skills in written expression. This year’s theme for the 2020-21 contest was “Reaching Your Dreams by Choosing Optimism.”
