Coach Don Donoher

Don was the head men’s basketball coach at the University of Dayton from 1964 to 1989. He compiled a record of 437-275. In 1968 they won the NIT championship and in 1967 they were the runners-up in the NCAA. He was the athletic director from 1976 to 1980. He became coach after Tom Blackburn lost his battle with cancer in 1964. Blackburn was head coach from 1947 to 1964.

Robert J. O’Toole EMT/Firefighter of the Year Award

Firefighter Paul Conover is an outstanding Firefighter/EMT who comes to work each shift with the drive and desire to learn and better himself. He is currently working to complete his paramedic certification while continuing to develop and improve his firefighting and EMS skills. Paul follows orders well, completes tasks promptly and efficiently and is always asking for additional assignments and projects. Paul is positive, upbeat, considerate, and professional with his coworkers as well as members of the community.

Lt. Rebecca Esselstein – USAF

1st Lt. Rebecca Esselstein, U.S.A.F. is a graduate of Alter High School and the U.S. Air Force Acadmey where she studied Astronautical Engineering. She is a native of Washington Township and most recently completed her Ph.D. in Astrophysics at the University of Oxford in England as a Rhodes Scholar. In her spare time, Lt. Esselstein rowed for the Blue Boat at Oxford against Cambridge. She was CoSIDA Women’s Division I Track & Field Academic All-American of the Year in 2015. Her dream is to become an astronaut. Her next assignment is flight school in Texas.

2018-19 Officer Installation and Awards Presentation Dinner

Today, there was no lunch meeting. Instead we had a wonderful evening of feast and fellowship at Canopy Creek Farm. This was a great night to celebrate the past year and to look forward to the next year. This is the end of the presidential year for Chris McAlpine and we welcomed 2018-2019 President Donna Huss! A partner such as a counselor or service agency finds people in need and requests to get the items from HTC. Presentation of Checks to Dayton Children’s from Tom Frazier Tee Off for Youth Golf Outing

Donations from CNO have helped fund the patient tower at DCH that opened on June 5, 2017. It has State of the Art technologies and conveniences. In the Dayton area there are 50 new patients each year with childhood cancer. Pediatric cancer is truly bad luck. It is not because of lifestyle, exercise levels or diet which are the causes of a lot of cancers in adults. Pediatric cancers can be cured about 85% of the time. About 42% of adults with cancer are cured. Treatment for pediatric cancer is the same across the U.S. through a nationwide network of doctors and protocols.
