Dayton Children’s Craniofacial Program and CHS Performs Mamma Mia

Erin Dickerson’s Prayer

Lord,

Our time on earth is a journey of discovery. We begin as infants and toddlers discovering the newness of the world around us. We become children discovering friendships and education. We grow into adolescents trying to discover what we are meant to do in this world, each stage of life bringing with it new things to discover.

Throughout our earthly journey, help us to never lose sight that we have always been and will always be your beloved children.

Amen.

Happy Birthday Ellie Parker and Carol Burkman

Happy Birthday to Ellie Parker and Carol Burkman! Since it was their birthday on a meeting day that means we sing to them. Luckily for Ellie and Carol (and the rest of us), we had four fantastic singers from CHS from the cast of “Mamma Mia!” at today’s meeting. They harmonized so well while singing Happy Birthday to two of our favorite CNO members.

Mamma Mia! Songs Performed by Centerville High School Theatre

We were also treated to three fantastic songs from the play, “Mamma Mia!” that CHS is performing.

Centerville High School Theatre will present Mamma Mia! at 7:30 p.m. on April 19-20 and April 26-27 in the Performing Arts Center, located behind CHS at 500 E. Franklin St.

Mamma Mia! is a mega-hit musical comedy. Based on songs by ABBA, it features favorites like “Dancing Queen,” “Super Trouper,” and “Money, Money, Money” in the story of a young woman searching for her father as she’s about to get married. Since it took the world by storm 25 years ago, Mamma Mia! has been seen on stage by over 65 million people!

Presentation

Dayton is the new destination for Craniofacial Surgery. The team is experienced in highly complex cases. They use advanced 3D imaging and planning techniques with increased safety which results in superior functional outcomes.

Craniofacial Patients are among the most underserved patients treated at Dayton Children’s Hospital.

The Dayton Children’s Craniofacial Program is the future for many children. Complex cases are often refused by other institutions due to complexity. Delayed treatment can result in permanent disability.

Often, Craniofacial Patients end up just being hidden away at home since treatment is not available.

Patients are given a chance at a normal life instead of socially debilitating and excruciating conditions.

Dayton Children’s collaborates with Shriners Hospitals and World CF.

Dr. Robert Lober is part of the surgical team that separated the conjoined twins Pedro and Augusto. The surgery took over a year to plan. The separation required several surgeries and the team developed a lot of new techniques that are helping numerous craniofacial patients. Dayton Children’s Hospital had to redesign an operating room to accommodate the surgery. There are only a handful of operating rooms in the world that can handle two human patients at once.

After the twin separation there has been a large increase in referrals to Dayton Children’s. There are currently over sixty patients on a waiting list now.

Thank You to CNO

Dr. Lober thanked CNO for the twenty-year partnership with Dayton Children’s Hospital.

Thank You

Thank you, Dr. Lober, for letting us know about the amazing procedures your team at Dayton Children’s Hospital Craniofacial Program can now provide for those who have no other place to turn.
