Noon Meeting News – December 13, 2016 – Television Personality Jim Bucher

Phather Phil’s Prayer

Heavenly Father soon we will share the joy of food, fellowship and faith in celebrating Christmas. You have blessed us with the happy spirit of Optimism. Help us pass on that spirit by letting younger generation know, OH so many things, like love, respect, honesty and generosity. Help us educate them to be happy so when they grow up they will know the value of things, not the price. Most of all, impart to them that the nicest place to be is in someone’s thoughts, the safest place to be is in someone’s prayers and the very best place to be is in the hands of God. Amen!

With Deep Sorrow

Our sincere condolences to the Hamdan Family at the loss of Wes Hamdan, a long time club member , who passed away suddenly on December 8th in Florida.  His memorial service will be held on Monday December 19th at Routsong Funeral Home at 81 North Main Street, Centerville, OH 45459 from 4-8PM.

IMPORTANT Upcoming Meeting Reminder

Please mark your calendars as there will be no Noon Meeting on December 27th and January 3rd for our Holiday Break.  There will be a meeting next week (December 20th) and the next meeting after that will be January 10th.

Noon Meeting News – December 6, 2016 – Community Champion Awards Presented

Phather Phil’s Prayer

Heavenly Father multitasking is our way of coping with time. As youngins we were told that time was precious or as it was put “time is money.”  Help us to not waste the time saved or the money made in search for just the material things of life. As Optimists, we know the time and money we have saved by multitasking is wisely spent on the kids. We ask for your blessings on our dedication to the kids and keep us multitasking for there are a lot more kids to reach out there. Amen!

Phather Phil’s Prayer

Heavenly Father, we sure like to be in control. We like to be in the front of the line, the middle of the road and our hands on the remote. We feel like Adam, if we give up control we end up in trouble. Have us know that our way is not the highway You want us on.  Turning to You every day is our surest way to a full and happy life. Your promises are golden even though our ride thru life is bumpy, You promise us a smooth landing. Grant us the strength to ask You to be the remote that controls our lives. We ask this with optimism and In Your Sons name.  Amen!

Then, Phather Phil brought down the house when, in his deep resonant voice  with a slightly menacing touch, said:  “I got the knife”.  Matthew David Stanley received a well-deserved standing ovation.

Noon Meeting News – November 15, 2016 – Greg Griffin – 2016 Christmas Tree Lot Overview

Phather Phil’s Prayer

Heavenly Father the battle of the sexes has been going on since the beginning of time.  Steinem would say women are not equal to men; they are superior and always have been.  Then there is the glass ceiling syndrome and equal pay for equal work.  And the battle goes on and on.  Human prejudice seems to always get in the way of any kind of agreement.  The solution seems to lie in this simple little litany.  Said the button hole to the button, “without me you can’t do nothin”.  We pray that we elected those that have the common sense to be like the button hole and the button. Amen!

Noon Meeting News – November 8, 2016 – Sandy Gudorf – Downtown Dayton Partnership

Phather Phil’s Prayer

Heavenly Father here we are on the horns of a dilemma.  It looks like who ever becomes our President, the prayers for help are going to increase.  Our only other hope is that they are not as bad as the media makes them out to be.  Because we live in such a great country, we were told that anyone could be President.  Seems now that was a fore warning instead of an aspiration.   So here we are with a choice of deciding to vote for the lesser evil.  We pray our vote will do that and  You will install your spirit in the new President’s eyes and mind so we will continue to be proud to be an American.  Amen!

Noon Meeting News – Dayton Daily News Food and Wine Writer – Mark Fisher – November 1, 2016

Phather Phil’s Prayer

Heavenly Father, guide us in our headlong rush thru life.  Grant us the foresight not to get caught up in the stampede of mindless following.  Let us control our emotions so we are not following like the running of the Bulls.  May we gain the wisdom to know that we are not here to follow the wild ideologies,  but to fulfill your purpose for us.  In a nutshell have us remember, when following the masses, sometimes the “M” is silent.  Amen!

Noon Meeting News – Centerville PD Detective James Myers – October 25, 2016

Phather Phil’s Testimony to the Power of Prayer

If you think the prayers of our club for Phather Phil’s son Skip were not heard, then read this…

Skip spent a restful night and has been cleared to go home today. Yea! He will be able to go back to work Monday with some minor restrictions.  The stents they used have been cleared for use in just the past month as they are an absorbable material and will last only for a year or two.  Wow!  The people here have been unbelievable in their knowledge and  accommodations.  Skip will be checking back by Email in two months as he has the lead surgeon’s Email address.  Wow! Again!  This place is fantastic.  They furnished me a cot to spend the night with Skip in his room.  Oh! The parking garage is free and they have a free coffee machine.

God is in his heaven and all is right with the world.

Love to all and Amen!

Noon Meeting News – EMT/Firefighter Award Presented – October 18, 2016

Phather Phil’s Opening Prayer

Heavenly Father, it’s easy for us to be humble when we are not perfect in every way. Now we know that doesn’t come as a new revelation to You, Lord. For You know that we are an obstinate, stiff neck people that take pride in giving ourselves all the credit. Your spirit is constantly with us giving us council and direction. Help us recognize that it is your love for us that makes us a piece of the puzzle that is needed to complete your purpose. Then help us to be sure our piece of the puzzle fits your will and we continue to do what we do for the kids and for your glory. – Amen!

Noon Meeting News – Larry Hansgen Speaks to Club – October 11, 2016

Phather Phil’s Opening Prayer

Heavenly Father many of us spend a lot of time thinking, which is a good thing. But sometimes it creates a problem that wasn’t even there in the first place. Instead of relying on our own judgement, we need to get in the habit of having a prayerful discussion with you. We need to listen to our inner selves, to recognize your nudges and to act. We thank You for all the variety of talents that are assembled here and may we continue to use them for the benefit of the kids and make You smile in appreciation. Amen!
